- Oil leaks onto cambelt causes belt to fail
A Cambelt or Timing belt is the life line that connects the top and bottom of the engine turning together. If a cambelt breaks, most engines are badly damaged. It is recommended by most vehicle manufactures to replace the cambelt when you have reached 100,000 kms or 5 years. Most European vehicles are sooner. If it breaks it can cause very costly repairs and inconvenience.
When buying a s/hand car it is always best to check the cambelt replacement history or get it done to avoid failure.
